Documentaries are not only entertaining, but as recent studies show, they are an incredibly effective way to raise awareness about the plight of farmed animals. Public screenings can bring community together and spread the message of compassion. Take these steps to organize a film screening in your area!

Step 1: Identify Where and When to Host Your Event

The venue and location can make all the difference in the success of your event. Choose locations that are easily accessible and will seat a good-sized crowd comfortably like independent movie theaters, community centers, libraries, and classrooms.

Step 2: Choose a Film to Screen

Approved films will include: Cowspiracy, Earthlings, and Forks Over Knives. We are happy to consider other vegan-related films, just let us know what you would like to screen first. You must contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to get your film approved in order to receive credit.

Step 3: Apply for Funding

Once you have your venue and film approved you can apply for funding through VegFund. Visit Vegfund.org for more details on their requirements and to apply for funding!

Step 4: Order Literature

You will need to use FARM leaflets in order to receive credit. Visit the CAN store to see our selection and to place an order. Remember to order weeks before your event to be sure they arrive on time.

Step 5: Promote Your Event

Promotion is key to ensure your event is a success! Get the word out about the event through newsletters, social media, local TV, newspapers, placing posters in high traffic community spaces, and event websites.

Step 6: Prepare for Your Screening

Be ready before the event day! Test equipment ahead of time, set up chairs and make sure all necessary literature, sign up sheets and information about the screening is out and ready for your guests as they arrive.
Enjoy the show and remember to upload your event afterwards!
